My Multicultural Training and Background

I enjoy working with people from various cultural, religious, sexual, and ethnic backgrounds. I have a clear understanding of the challenges one can be presented with while adjusting to a new culture and different lifestyle, especially since I went through it myself when I immigrated to the United States from Italy at the age of 18.

I have also received extensive training in multiculturalism and cultural sensitivity from The Institute of Multicultural Counseling and Education Services, where I held for eight years the position of program director for the Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) and school-based programs. After that, I was the clinical director at a drug rehab center in Beverly Hills where I mastered treating addiction and learned how to fully manage an inpatient substance abuse care facility.

My Clinical Experience

Currently, I am the director of clinical services at New Directions for Veterans. Through my job, I assist veterans with family reunification issues, military sexual trauma, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and life adjustment issues after service.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, children, and couples from various backgrounds who were experiencing a variety of challenges in their lives. I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing relationship issues, substance abuse, codependency problems, sexuality and anxiety issues, trauma, and difficulties adjusting to a critical life transition. Similarly, I enjoy working with millennials, young adults, college students, and athletes who are facing identity issues, problems with their parents or peers, and are attempting to cope with sport or career pressure.

I also enjoy working with couples who feel they are miscommunicating or no longer communicating with each other, who feel like they are roommates, who miss the spark they had with each other, who feel like their emotional, physical, and/or sexual needs are no longer being met, and who are attempting to cope with the aftermath of an affair.
